Fred De Bruyne was born on October 21, 1930. He died on February 4, 1994.

The Belgian rider was a one-day specialist who won four out of the five monuments in cycling.

De Bruyne won the 1957 Paris-Roubaix Classic in front of fellow Belgians Rik Van Steenbergen and Leon Van Daele.

De Bruyne was also second in the 1956 Paris-Roubaix Classic to Louison Bobet of France.

De Bruyne won the Milan-San Remo Classic in 1956.

De Bruyne won the Tour of Flanders Classic in 1957.

De Bruyne won the Liege-Bastogne-Liege Classic in 1956, 1958, and 1959.
