Alessandro Ballan was born on November 6, 1979.

The Italian rider won the World Championship Road Race.

He also won one of the five monuments in cycling.

In addition, he stood on the podium of the Paris-Roubaix Classic on three occassions.

Ballan won the 2008 World Championship Road Race in front of Damiano Cunego of Italy and Matti Breschel of Denmark.

Ballan also won the Tour of Flanders Classic in 2007.


Ballan was 3rd in the 2006 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland and Tom Boonen of Belgium.

Ballan was also 3rd in the 2008 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Tom Boonen of Belgium and Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland.

In addition, Ballan was 3rd in the 2012 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Tom Boonen of Belgium and Sebastien Turgot of France.
