Pino Cerami, a Belgian road cyclist of Italian descent, was born in Misterbianco, Italy, on April 28, 1922. From 1946 through 1963, he had a prosperous professional cycling career, during which he raced for numerous teams, including St. Raphael, Terrot, Dilecta, Peugeot, Wiel’s, and Groene Leeuw. Cerami was renowned for his toughness and tenacity, and he frequently won difficult races.

Among Cerami’s greatest successes is his victory in the 1960 Paris-Roubaix, one of cycling’s most difficult races. He also won the Grote Scheldeprijs twice, in 1950 and 1952, as well as the 1964 Grand Prix Pino Cerami, a race named in his honor. In 1960, Cerami also won the Belgian national road race championship.

In addition to his achievements in racing, Cerami was renowned for his endurance and determination. After surviving a concentration camp during World War Two, he went on to have a great bicycle career. He also experienced a major crash in the 1956 Paris-Roubaix, but despite his injuries, he managed to finish the race.
