Romain Maes was born on August 10, 1913. He died on February 22, 1983.

The Belgian rider won the Tour de France.

He also stood on the podium of the Paris-Roubaix Classic.

Maes won the 1935 Tour de France in front of Ambrosio Morelli of Italy and Felicien Vervaecke of Belgium.

Maes was also 2nd in the 1936 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Georges Speicher of France.
