Luigi Ganna was born on December 1, 1883. He died on October 2, 1957.

The Italian rider won a Grand Tour event and stood on the podium another time at the same event.

He also won one of the five monuments in cycling.

Ganna won the inagural Giro d’Italia in 1909 in front of fellow Italians Carlo Galetti and Giavanni Rossignoli.

Ganna was also 3rd in the 1910 Giro d'Italia behind Italians Carlo Galetti and Eberardo Pavesi.

In addition, Ganna won the Milan-San Remo Classic in 1909.
