Costante Girardengo was an Italian professional road cyclist who was born on March 18, 1893. He competed in races all across Italy. Because he is the only cyclist in history to have won six different iterations of the Giro d’Italia, the most important event in Italian cycling, he is widely regarded as one of the best Italian cyclists of all time. He was renowned not only for his stamina and climbing prowess, but also for his fiercely competitive nature and dogged drive.

Girardengo began his career as a cyclist at an early age, and by 1912, he was already competing professionally in bicycle races. He rose to prominence almost immediately after claiming victory in the Giro dell’Emilia in 1913, and he went on to triumph in a number of other competitions during the rest of his career. In 1919, he won the Giro d’Italia for the first time, and he went on to win the event again in 1923, 1924, 1928, 1929, and 1933. His record is seven victories overall.
