Franco Balmamion is a retired Italian road cyclist who was born in Cantoira, Italy, on December 11, 1940. Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, he was well-known for his climbing skills and victories in the Giro d’Italia. In 1972, Balmamion retired from professional riding.

Balmamion began his professional cycling career in 1962, and in 1963 he won a stage of the Giro d’Italia, which was his first important victory. In the subsequent years, he continued to be successful in the Giro, winning the event in 1967 and 1970. Balmamion was renowned for his superior climbing skills and success in mountain stages of competitions.

In addition to his victories in the Giro, Balmamion also had success in other races, including the 1965 and 1967 Tour de Suisse. In addition, he won the Giro di Lombardia twice, in 1966 and 1968.
